1 Use Landscape Mode

Always hold your phone or camera horizontally (landscape orientation) when taking photos. Website headers and hero sections are wide, not tall—landscape photos fit perfectly and look professional. Portrait photos often get awkwardly cropped or leave empty space.

2 Shoot in Natural Light

The best photos happen in natural daylight. Early morning and late afternoon (the "golden hour") give warm, flattering light. Avoid shooting at high noon when shadows are harsh, or in dim indoor lighting that can make photos look grainy.

• Overcast days provide soft, even lighting
• Face the light source (don't shoot into the sun)
• Turn on all the lights if shooting indoors

3 Tidy Up First

Before you start shooting, take a few minutes to clean up the area. Move equipment out of frame, sweep the aisle, and remove any clutter. A clean, organized space photographs much better and looks more professional to potential clients.

4 Get a Variety of Shots

Give us options to work with. Take photos of different areas and from different angles:

• Wide shots of your arena, barn exterior, and pastures
• Medium shots of stalls, tack room, and wash stalls
• Detail shots of special features or amenities
• Photos with horses and people (with permission)

5 Use High Resolution

Make sure your camera or phone is set to the highest quality setting. We can always make photos smaller, but we can't make a small, blurry photo look better. Most modern smartphones take excellent photos—just make sure you're not shooting in a compressed mode.

6 Capture Action

Photos of horses being ridden, lessons in progress, or daily barn activities bring your website to life. These candid moments help visitors imagine themselves at your barn. Just make sure you have permission from anyone pictured.
